what was the commad to activate johnny sockos robot

Jaianto robo (TV Series 1967–1968) Poster

a proficient motion picture for the kids

This is no great movie and many adults will notice themselves quickly bored. All the same, considering this was aimed at kids, it's a pretty good flick--especially since it breathes some life into the moribund Japanese mega-monster genre.

Johnny is a cute kid who discovers a giant flying robot who he is able to control. The kid uses the robot for skillful and they become friends (or at least as close to friendship as yous tin can get with a behemothic flight robot). Does this audio familiar? To those out in that location who have kids, it should as this idea was completely ripped off in the moving-picture show The Iron Behemothic. Information technology does for Johnny Sokko what The Lion King did to Kimba the White King of beasts (i.e., American studio steals the idea blatantly and the original writers and actors are screwed).

FYI--this was a movie AND a idiot box series. I think the motion-picture show was actually but pieced together from the TV show. I saw the movie and never really had a desire to picket the TV evidence, as it came out in the US when I was almost fifteen--and I thought I was mode too quondam and too cool to spotter a kids bear witness (or and then I hoped)!

Hmmmm. I've done a lot of reviews, merely I discover there is no rating button for the flick. In that instance, I give it a 6.

Fun, on a thousand scale...

Warning: Spoilers

JOHNNY SOKKO AND HIS FLYING ROBOT begins with the discovery of a behemothic robot that has been congenital to be used for Evil (past The Gargoyle Gang), but inadvertently falls into the hands of The Adept Guys (The Unicorn Arrangement); like TETSUJIN 28 (GIGANTOR), said giant, flying robot comes under the control of a kid (in this case, Johnny Sokko). (If I'thou non mistaken, the same woman who dubbed the kid's vocalization in the animated version of GIGANTOR, Bobbie Byers, too dubs the vocalization of Johnny Sokko in this alive-activeness serial.) Like near of the live-action giant robot shows from the '60s and '70s (ULTRA MAN, Carmine Baron, THE IRON KING, etc.), JOHNNY SOKKO is just plain FUN. American filmmakers have more often than non dropped the ball when information technology comes to children's programming because they tend to produce s*** so stupid that their intended audience thinks it'southward dumb (take a await at the original version of THE Ability RANGERS and compare it to the watered-downward U.$. version); they would practice well to study very carefully what has come before...

Another giant robot by Mitsuteru Yokoyama

Giant Robo was a comic which was first featured in a weekly comic magazine "Shonen Sunday" in the tardily '60s by comic artist Mitsuteru Yokoyama, and so turned into a Boob tube series. Yokoyama drew some other comic featuring a giant robot nether a boy's command; the "Gigantor" (Tetsujin Nijyuhachi-become) which besides became a TV series (4 times). Giant Robo was supposed to be a weapon for the bad guys, but because U7 (Disuke Kusama) starting time spoke into the wrist scout remote control, it only obeyed his command. Like Gigantor, its offset incarnation to Goggle box was acted by a real live actors, then the second series was blithe. I have memories of this series like many people who wrote here including having a crush on U5. I don't know what information technology is virtually these classic Japanese Goggle box sci-fi but there'south something that leaves a lasting impression on people. Yokoyama has another comic with giant robot obeying chief's commands (Babyl Ii or Babyl Nisei) which also became a TV serial. He is considered along the likes of Osamu Tezuka (Astro Boy), Ishinomori Shotaro (Kamen Ryder, Kikaida, Go Rangers, Cyborg 009), and Fujiko Fujio (Obake no Q-taro, Doraemon) as a founding father of genre we now call "Manga", and has legion of fans effectually the earth. Merely a great evidence from a great comic artist.

Beatnik Human rises...

This is a weird ane, from dorsum in the belatedly 60s you have this Japanese import, well-nigh a child, a Casio-sentinel controlled 100 foot flying robot, a guy in a real bad Squid/jellyfish papier-mache mask who shakes a trident alot(he's the evil villain, Emperor Guillotine!), fakey rubber suited monsters, a group of terrorists who shoot plastic car guys, and intend to take over the world with their nine inter-changeable members, a '58 Bel-air and some godawful monsters.

You accept to see it to believe it-the dreaded Nuclion, a bowling ball/landmine/infant toy from outer infinite(!!) which rolls downhill and crushes an onslaught of plastic tanks before being hauled up past Giant Robot, who and then drops information technology onto the '58 Belair that the 'Gargoyle Gang' have helpfully piled into(actually, the last guy diving for cover dives UNDER the motorcar...oh its a scream...)...

Yous accept these villains...fanger, silvery-faced DrBotanus, who is some kind of Evil Plant wiz, a panther-griffin cantankerous who likes eating toy trains whole, a giant eye Opticus(oh that one is a scream!), and this short guy with a peg-leg, who is sposedly a chief of disguise(!?)...God, WHAT were they thinking??

Guys get killed and come right on back without caption. Take 'Crackpot Man'-ane of the caput Gargoyle Gang guys. Has the shades, bad greasepaint beard(troweled on by the looks...) and beret. I think he winds up quite dead at least iv times-shot upwardly past a plastic machine gun, defenseless in an diminutive reddish bomb explosion(don't ask), flattened past Nuclion, etc. At the end, he is now wearing a goatee, simply its our guy, Beatnik Man in the flesh...

Bad models, bad acting, bad dubbing--and as a kid, I loved every infinitesimal of it! People Do remember it, not from its proper name but from the content, of seeing Giant Robot(who looks similar a silver George Washington in a Male monarch Tut get-upwards...),who flies, shoots missiles outta his fingers, etc.

It is kinda fun in a MST3K fashion, but non more than that.

I give information technology *** stars outta **** on the hilarity calibration, *1/2 in the actual quality scale. Its a hoot. Yes! See it if you lot can or dare.

One of Japan's Wildest Exports

This had to be i of the weirdest shows to always come up from the Land of the Rising Sun. If anyone today were to try to promote a bear witness featuring a ten year old kid and his flying robot, that person would either exist thrown out on his ear or have the guys in the white coats come and pick him up. However, this was an enjoyable show featuring not just some crazy activity, only some of the wildest monsters ever created for the whole kaiju eiga genre. The only matter that undoes this prove are the poor special effects. However this show is still a cult classic and for the life of me I don't know why this isn't shown on television anymore.

Crawly show in oh-and so many ways !

My heavens what a smashing show! If you were e'er young yous volition savour this immensely. It is extremely imaginative and extremely funny in my opinion. The dialog is often hilarious. What a shame this only lasted from October '67 until April '68,merely 26 episodes full. As rough as they are,the special effects are dandy in their own way. The model cities that are destroyed, the costumes, the monsters, the means that they switch from small sets to full-sized sets, the explosions, all of it is cracking. A lot of imaginative work is accomplished for a very low upkeep. Certain, some or most of it may look silly, but that is part of the charm-the prove has heart! Anybody in the show puts in an honest attempt. I beloved this bear witness, information technology is a ane of a kind treat! Bank check out the charming fiddling girl Unicorn agent, when she talks she sounds like she should be selling popcorn, processed, and flowers ! 🌞

One Ultra-Cool, If Slightly Goofy Serial!

Warning: Spoilers

I only saw a few episodes of Johnny Sokko in my youth, only the imagery stuck in my head plenty to buy the few Orion Pictures video releases and and then the official DVD release. It's just a really fun, action-packed bit of 60s fun, with a slightly demented world on display.

Obviously, the serial is the American redubbing of the Japanese series Behemothic Robo (or Jianto Robo). The names accept been changed, though the premise is largely intact. The alien Emperor Guillotine seeks to conquer the Earth, through his criminal organization of thugs and monsters; and, what an arrangement it is! The Gargoyle Gang consists of beatnick Che Guevara/Nazi soldiers (with stylish wraparound sunglasses), a silver headed conflicting lieutenant with shelf- like countenance ridges (Dr. Botanus); a buck toothed, giant foreheaded, ane legged lieutenant (Fangar); a one eyed playing card obsessive (Harlequin), and a nutjob in golden knight's armor (Goldennock). meanwhile, their leader is a cross-eyed alien, with tentacles hanging from his head. This bunch of misfits, along with their various monsters and weaponry, seek to subjugate the planet, for whatever reason. Opposing them is Unicorn a security organization that thinks information technology's OK for a niggling boy (and, later, a lilliputian daughter) to casually be exposed to danger and deport a gun. To be fair, the kid seems to exist the only 1 with whatsoever sense in the organization. They also seem to adopt stereotypical dress in their subsidiaries around the globe (tyrolean hats, turbans, etc...). The grouping unremarkably needs the Behemothic Robot to get them out of a jam, though they practice occasionally rescue the kid, so he can telephone call in the robot.

The evidence is just a lot of fun, as so many take chances shows of the 60s were. They aren't too concerned with kids being exposed to violence, and so there is a lot more activity and drama, thank you to the dangers involved. This certainly stood out in the 70s, when I offset saw the show. Withal, it is never gratuitously violent, or particularly encarmine.

The show was substantially spawned by the success of Tsuburaya'due south Ultraman (though the series was adapted from a manga); but it proved groundbreaking, equally many elements of it would go along to influence other Japanese adventure flair, like Gatchaman and the Sentai series that spawned the Ability Rangers. Ultraman had better monster suits and battles, simply Johnny Sokko had better action with the human bandage, with a prissy alloy of spy-fi, monster fights, and behemothic mecha, much of which became a staple for other live action series from Toei.

This is definitely worth picking up for any fan of spy-fi, monster movies, or action-hazard, regardless of age.

Everything you could want in cheesy dated poorly-dubbed fun...

I've seen this mentioned in other posts that, "Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot", instilled in them a love for monsters at a young age. Ditto, here. Who can forget a gigantic 'eye monster' that sucked things into its educatee? Other ludicrous monsters were so ridiculous-looking you lot couldn't assistance simply laugh out loud (even and then!), and make you play a 'spot the zipper' game. I just found out that Johnny'southward voice was a adult female'due south and, quite sadly, the actor who played him is no longer with us, passing in 1997. The robot's weaponry was incredible, even in today's terms. Rockets from fingertips, a ray emitted from its metallic eyes, and an 'atomic punch' all kicked monster butt. Oh yeah, he flies and can even go underwater (I recollect).

I'g watching an episode right now, as I type. The Robot is fighting a monster called Tyrox, who sports dreadlocks-like something-or-others on its head that would make a Rastafarian jealous! A masterpiece!!

Unmitigated genius

This prove is 130% imagination. More imaginative than anything that'southward been on American Television in at least a generation.

It's Japan of the 60'southward and so that's already a plus. Relatively empty city streets, bullet shaped cars, drab Japanese dwelling interiors...

...and that Jazz! Every episode is PACKED to the gills with an absolutely surreal jazz score that tin can't be explained. You NEED to experience it. I don't even

A villainous army of Japanese Che Guevara clones (shades, berets, goatees and all), ridiculously over-sized auto gun props, jet packs, toy tanks which shoot sparks. Giant Robot'southward head bears a mechanical approximation of Gulliver'south face adorned with an abbreviated ancient Egyptian headdress.

Information technology sounds similar something that would get you fired, and so assassinated by your sometime studio exec employers. But it's all fascinating! The entire production is only fascinating and some of the imagery has been etched permanently into my heed since childhood.

This show was massive when I was a child and information technology's yet amazing when I look back on it as a mature adult.

This could never be made again.

Come up Giant Robot

Alarm: Spoilers

I was just a in Kindergarten when I outset seen this show. I remember I had to be in front of the television everyday to spotter it. Along with Speed Racer.

I call up running effectually with my friends and yelling into my watch, "Come Giant Robot".

This show was i of the all-time memories at that age. Fortunately for me I have almost of the episodes on video record. They aren't the best copies in the world, but when I sit downward and lookout them....male child do the memories flow.

One of my most favorite episode is where the bad guys steal the watch that controls Giant robot and I believe they clone Johnny Sokko. They use the clone who orders Giant robot to destroy things. At i point in the episode, Giant Robot is ordered to destroy the good guys. A very emotional office happens as the real Johnny Sokko is looking at his best friend Behemothic Robot picking upwards something to throw to destroy him. Johnny Sokko began to cry, and ask behemothic robot to do the right affair.....the robot has a hard fourth dimension throwing the item at the good guys and freezes...until one shocking ending....

Needless to say...it has a happy ending...

I give this prove one of my highest ratings...hey the special effects weren't the best, but information technology was the seventy's!!!

Take A Bow !!!

Aah, childhood, those halcyon days, all those memories associated with them are indelible. I was five years sometime, and our neighbors had just got a new television. In India, we had only one TV channel and so and the programs were more related to news based items or were culture oriented. Watching a Egyptian mummy faced robot fighting monsters was a dream for me also as for every other child I knew. I recall how hard I cried when the giant robot lost his eyes and also during the episode where he was beaten desperately, I envied Johnny so much. Today I know the special effects are much much better and there are a plethora of new sci- fi based programs just they deceit fifty-fifty hold a torch to practiced ol' Johnny and his robot.

For the people of my generation this is as skillful equally gold. C'mon Johnny quit playing games, come up back. I miss you.

Mister Roboto

How could I ever forget Johnny Socko and his flight robot! I started watching the show when in 1979 at the age of 6. I remember information technology being on Television for a couple of years, I suppose when I was about 8 or 9 – would accept been the concluding fourth dimension I watched the show.

Johnny Socko and his Flight Robot was my favorite TV testify growing up then as a child. Amongst my other listing of favorites (at that historic period of 6ish to 8ish years old): Batman, Lost in Space, Superman, Leave it to Beaver, G-Strength, Incredible Haulk, Greatest American Hero, and yes fifty-fifty Dallas…. Put at the elevation of that list: Johnny Socko and his flying robot! I call back I had my ain fleet of Socko Robots that I made out of Legos. I wanted my own giant robot then bad! There is 1 episode that seems to stick out…and that is the one where the Giant Robot loses his eyes… or they get messed up real bad and the poor giant robot can't see anything… and he'due south thrashing well-nigh knocking over any thing his arms hit. And wasn't there a prove where the Behemothic Robot turned on Johnny and all the good people of the world? Ha ha ha…. I call up when the Robot lost his eye sight, Johnny was crying over information technology. Amazing the things you recall from when your child.

I proceed looking for VHS copies of this Idiot box bear witness to no avail. It would exist nice if the SCI FI aqueduct would re run this TV series! As well, the player that played Jonny died in 1997.

A wonderful Giant Robo show that deserves to be seen.

If you like Godzilla, Behemothic Robo, Ultraman or any other big monsters that fight and relieve the world then this is the best best. Sure information technology's former and campy...just it's a lot of fun. I have old tapes that I pull out every once in a while. Nevertheless bask the show. Certain they didn't have the greatest special furnishings but who did back and so? Everyone complaining nigh how the monsters or explosions expect shouldn't compare the show to present day shows only others from the same catamenia. This is good.

Until recently I had never heard of this testify, and I am sorry for the upset I will cause, but somebody should have been.sectioned for inflicting this drivel on Japan.and America, plus anywhere else that showed it, but this has to rank as nearly the worst matter always filmed. It makes Program 9 From Outer Space look like Shakespeare. Rubbish is too adept a word for information technology.

Behemothic Robot was the most pop Japanese Idiot box serial always on Indian TV.

Giant Robot was the well-nigh pop Japanese TV serial ever seen on Indian Television receiver. It was targeted to children and we saw a robot for the first time in our life.

Many Indian children must have fifty-fifty seen a machine for the first time outside the school textbooks.

The series likewise showed a child in an adults organization fighting evil. No dubiousness, many of u.s. who have seen Behemothic Robot in our childhood long for our own robots and as a stopgap organization look upon our computers in the same way.

This show also portrayed ideal adults, (referring at Jerry, Johnny's buddy friend and Unicorn chief Azuma). We grew to respect Japanese progress and nevertheless view Nippon equally the ideal Asian nation.

BTW, at that time, at that place were no satellite TV channels in India and the govt owned broadcaster did non evidence much of Disney cartoons. I guess that was how child serials like giant Robot got appreciated. Nowadays there is Pokemon etc simply they are no and so fascinating or alluring equally Behemothic robot.

Johnny Sokko---a squeamish flashback to my babyhood

For anyone who remembers this low-budget but entertaining '60s era Japanese sci-fi kids' show being shown in the early on '80s, information technology's currently being shown on the new sci-fi digital channel CometTV at noon in the daytime, and 3:00 a.m. at dark time. I beginning saw this show as a monster-movie loving ten twelvemonth old who'd already seen a adept number of Godzilla films, and grew upward seeing that other pop Japanese sci-fi kids' show Ultraman, so I was all for watching this. Information technology came on right after I came habitation from school--perfect time to watch information technology, and see some cool monsters 5 days a calendar week, when the Godzilla flicks wouldn't come on until the weekend. Yes, information technology looks cheap and the special effects are outdated by today's standards, just the weird as hell looking villains, the even stranger-looking monsters, the cute Unicorn agent U3, the giant flying robot, and the ambrosial little pint-sized hero Johnny Sokko made upward for it. Nice trip downwards memory lane it you can catch it.

My e-mail is creator67@pipinternet.net, simply send me an e-mail and your asking and I will notify you and we tin make the arrangements. The quality is very adept and they are very enjoyable to sentry specially if you take not been able to meet them since they aired in the 60'southward. Information technology was one of my favorite shows as a child and concur a very special place in my centre because information technology brings back a lot of memories of my childhood as well as other shows like Ultraman and Astroboy.

My memories

I practise think this show but I remember from at to the lowest degree the late 70's to early 80's it was on in the afternoon after school. I loved information technology the previous posts nailed it correct on the head for its cheese factor but they forgot to mention that the proficient guys were called Unicorn and Johnny was U-7. Plus a few monsters they missed were Scallion a giant reptile with armpit flaps he also spits acid out of his nose (I think the hand melting away) The Claw: A huge robotic claw(controlled by on of his classmates if I do recall.) The blob(I don't recall it's proper name but I do retrieve the dummy robot used to fool it, The hulk came through a duct in the floor of some sort and melted the dummy robot) The Clone: An almost copy of the hero robot with a weird shield. I remember iii scenes. Scene 1 the finger missles reflecting back at the good robot. Scene 2:His eye lasers doing the same thing. Scene 3:After winning Johnny says we'll go to the store to purchase yous some new eyes. What store I don't know:). I also remember the series finale in which Emperor Guillotine threatens to blow up the earth with himself(pulls off finger nail and throws it and it explodes and he says "That's only a finger nail!" Then the robot grabs the Emperor and flings them both into the Dominicus meanwhile Johnny is trying to stop him. Classic Cheesy ending it's just fitting for this show. Ahh what memories of childhood I have.

I LOVED Giant Robot

When I was in Kindergarten and First Form I remember watching these episodes. I think Johnny Sokko was my offset crush. I loved all the monsters and that good always won over evil. I too agree that this instilled my love for monsters. I call up going out to a brick pile backside our house with one of my best friends and we tried to build our own Robot out of bricks and wire. I was sooo upset that it didn't come to life. Anyway, I wish they would show these again and then I can come across how actually cheesy they were.

I remember this...

I remember this "farout" Japanese import, me and my brother saw, on the bowling for dollars flick of the week. It was on KTLA with Chick Hearn. It was literally the movie of the week, they showed the film everyday all week, and we saw it everyday it showed. I retrieve the robot would merely obey the first voice that gave him a command. Lilliputian Johnny spoke into the transmitter/watch, "giant robot beginning to movement". That'due south how little Johnny took command of the robot, I mean, that'southward why it would only obey him. Information technology's squeamish to know that there's others out there who take the same babyhood nostalgia. It'south kind of funny how yous remember movies that you saw when you were a kid. I recall lots of them, just when I had the chance to view them again every bit an adult, they had lost their childhood charm. Lots of them had some occultist overtones, Inframan, bedknobs and broomsticks, etc. We used to buy tickets for the upcoming summertime holiday. It had all the movies that they were going to bear witness for the summer, they punched the ticket every time you saw a movie.

My favorite show as a child!!!

This was one of 3 shows I first think watching, from the age of 2-six years, and was my absolute favorite. The other ii shows were Speed Racer and Batman.

I accept not seen an episode of Johnny Sokko and His Giant Flying Robot, (as I recall it chosen), since I was about 8 years sometime. Through the years,I have mentioned it in conversations with others and surprisingly have never run across anybody who remembers information technology. Sure was cool to find it on this sight along with a couple positive comments! Let's hear from more!

P.S. Batman was campy and Godzilla's special furnishings were just as dated every bit 'Johnny Sokko' but look at the legends they've become. In my memories, Johnny Sokko is right at that place with them.

"Giant Robot" equally far as I can call back...

As far as my memory tin can go back, I retrieve waiting for the schoolhouse bell to release us 135th Street Elementary School kids at days end and dashing off similar a bat out of hell to sentry my "Giant Robot" and that kid who stole my watch named "Johnny Sokko" on KTLA'southward Channel 5 but non earlier we hitting the dumpsters at the "Rocket Pop" processed manufacturer in Gardena, California. Man... this was the show dorsum in the twenty-four hour period and I've got to admit, stands lone as the forefather of all the "Transforming Ability Ranger Ninjas" that flood the market today. Hands down, "Johnny Sokko And His Flight Robot" forever will reign as my All-time Favorite Testify growing up equally a kid, and who tin can forget the moment when Emperor Guillotine was taken into the milky ways of the heavens equally "Behemothic Robot" failed to recognize my voice, with Johnny Sokko recalling the mission he never completed but "Behemothic Robot" did later on taking the matter into his own missile-firing hands. Long live the famed "Jaianto Robo"... you'll forever accept a place in my centre! This is a must come across to believe kind of prove that has paved the way to todays, "Earth Saving Techno Transforming Power Ranger/Ninja With A Slight Chaotic Monsters Of Destruction Kind Of Twist" lineup. Two Thumbs Up In My Book! Oh yeah by the style.. "I Want My Watch Dorsum Johnny!"

It made the play footing a boxing field skillful v. evil and it had its war field, the play ground. kids would talk about the robot and Johnny to there friends. Behemothic Robot was a great move and i call up that the movement should be put on DVD or put on TV for 1 of those monster move calendar week end deals. As for me now equally a grown up i would love for my kids to see the movie besides as myself like i said before it was a very skilful move and if i had it to lookout man it i would watch information technology with my kids and there friends.
